Approach

A single family, a single mandate. Decisions are taken by the people who carry their consequences, which removes most of the pressure that shortens an investment horizon.

We hold positions for as long as they deserve to be held. We prefer businesses and assets we can understand without a model, people we have known through a full cycle, and structures that survive a change of generation.

Discretion is a working condition, not a marketing line. Holdings, counterparties and family matters are not discussed publicly.

Activities

Direct holdings

Long-term participations in operating companies, held directly rather than through funds, with involvement limited to governance.

Growth capital

Convertible notes in companies between funding rounds, written from our own balance sheet, with involvement limited to governance.

Real assets

Property and land held for income and preservation, with an emphasis on locations the family knows first-hand.

Liquid portfolio

A conservative allocation whose purpose is to fund commitments and to be available when assets are mispriced.

Succession & structuring

Holding architecture, family governance and the orderly transfer of responsibility between generations.

Governance

The office operates through Grether Familien Holding AG, a Swiss stock corporation registered in the Canton of Glarus. Its registered office is held with Stauffacher Treuhand AG in Glarus.

Hans Christoph Grether serves as Chief Executive Officer.
